The Little Black Skirt

The little black dress has a rival. The best part: it’s just as classic and trendy. I wrote about the versatility, style, and classic nature of the LBD recently. If you haven’t read it yet, check it out! It’s true, it doesn’t get more functional and fashionable than the LBD, but, the little black skirt (LBS) is coming in hot.

Now, I’m not saying to forgo the LBD entirely and always choose a LBS, but, having both will give your wardrobe a new depth that it hasn’t had before. For example, pairing my LBS with a raglan T-shirt is a great, causal look. It’s simple and great for running around from class to work and back. But, much like the LBD, if I wanted to dress it up, I could add a fitted, off-the-shoulder top with a pair of chunky heels (love these), and it’s a seamless transition.

Find a skirt that flatters your height, body shape, and style. For me, since I’m petite, I usually choose an A-line silhouette that falls a couple of inches above my knee. It lengthens the look of my legs, making me appear taller. Hey, I’ll take every inch I can get! Once you find an LBS that best suits you, you’re good to go for any occasion. Consider the stress of choosing an outfit, GONE!
